Century Middle School students will have opportunities next week to learn about mental health issues and suicide prevention.
Principal Shawn Andress announced Wednesday that Brina Ellison, a speaker with Steller Human Services in Bemidji, will be coming to classrooms March 3 and 5 with a program funded through the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
365体育投注Tailoring her message to each grade level, Ellison plans to show kids when a struggle is normal and when it’s important to ask for help. She will also talk about the crisis text line and Stellher’s mobile crisis services.
365体育投注With fifth and sixth graders, Ellison will focus on mental wellbeing and healthy supports that build resilience, then touch on warning signs and ways to help. Seventh and eighth graders will also hear about identifying warning signs of suicidal thoughts and how to seek and ask for help.
