365体育投注Children ranging from preschoolers to teens joined parents and adults at Park Rapids Area High School on Saturday for a "BYOK" (bring your own kids) event to exercise creativity, sensory processing and social-emotional intelligence in a series of fun activities.
Attendees were encouraged to pick up passports for the event and get them stamped after each activity. Families receiving at least five stamps were treated to dinner, dessert and prizes.
365体育投注Activities included a sensory walk, aerobic dancing, yoga, hopscotch, an escape room, lessons in tying a tie and giving a proper handshake, a quiz to identify emotions from photos of people’s facial expressions, and creating modeling-clay faces expressing their own emotions.
There were also “ooey gooey” fun activities, such as washing toy dishes, using rice to turn silly machines, and racing toy cars through shaving cream; art therapy classes, including make-your-own stress balls and handprints in paint; and an opportunity to brush a giant set of teeth.
Contributing personnel and resources to the event included Calvary Lutheran Church, Hubbard in Prevention, the FATHER Project, CHI Community Health Family Home Visiting and Child and Teen Checkup programs, A Better Connection, Alternative Learning Center, MAHUBE-OTWA, Kinship of the Park Rapids Area and the Family Safety Network.
