Question: What changes has the sheriff’s office had to make due to the COVID-19 pandemic and are you still providing the same services?
Answer: Although the public and plenty of businesses have had to make some major changes, your sheriff’s office continues to operate like we always have with only some minor changes.
365体育投注We have taken a proactive approach in the jail and have halted inmate visitation.
We screen staff and take their temperature when they report to work at the beginning of every shift.
While certain products and businesses may no longer be available, your sheriff’s office will be. Our lobby is still open should you need to report an incident or receive copies of police reports.
We are still processing gun permits as well. We did, however, temporarily halt our fingerprinting service due to the requirement to be in such close proximity with people.
365体育投注If any of our inmates need to appear in court, we are simply doing it through ITV rather than face-to-face in the courtroom.
It certainly appears that the majority of people in Hubbard County are complying with executive orders and the different recommendations put out by the federal government.
We have received complaints about people, however, being in violation and attending church services. Your sheriff’s office has taken a “no-response” position on this.
Social distancing is a recommendation and not part of an enforceable law. This particular small church continuing to provide a place to worship was not against the law. And it’s just not law enforcement’s place to tell people that they can’t drive to church in a time of need.
Overall, the public has been understanding and compliant. I have no doubt that we are seeing light at the end of the tunnel and like we were before this, your sheriff’s office is here for you now, and we will be here for you going forward.
